HALF DAY RIDE

Service Description

Spend a memorable half-day in the saddle exploring the heart of the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains on horseback. This scenic ride begins at Skyline Guest Ranch, where you'll arrive by 9:45 a.m. to check in, meet your wrangler, and get matched with one of our gentle, well-trained horses. After saddling up at 10:00 a.m., we’ll head out on a guided trail ride through the pristine Gallatin National Forest. The journey to Rock Island Lake takes about an hour and a half, winding through dense forests, across crystal-clear mountain streams, and over rolling alpine meadows. When we arrive at the lake, you’ll have time to relax, explore the shoreline, and enjoy a delicious sack lunch while taking in the peaceful mountain scenery. Lunches are thoughtfully packed with a sandwich, homemade cookies, chips, fresh fruit, trail mix or nuts, a napkin, and a wet wipe. You’ll also be able to choose your beverage from our cooler, which includes a wide variety of water, soft drinks, and Gatorade. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available upon request. This ride is suitable for guests ages five and up, and all riding levels are welcome. Our guides will match each rider with a horse based on age, weight, experience, and personality, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for the whole family. All riders must be able to mount and dismount without the use of a mounting block. A minimum of two participants is required for this ride. The cost of this ride includes a 4% Montana resort tax; Montana does not charge sales tax.
